Transnistria,Moldova
De-Jure this country doesn't exist, but de-Facto it does! It has its own President, Parliament, Ministries, Tax Office, currency, passport, 3 official languages. . . definitely a lot of these will surprise you here. First we will visit a medieval fortress in Bender which has an intricate history under Ottoman and Russian occupation. We will visit Alexander Nevsky church and will continue to explore more soviet landmarks in Tiraspol, so called "capital of Transnistrian Moldovan Republic". As Transnistria is a melting pot of different nationalities, languages, cultures, so the cuisine is diverse. We will enjoy lunch in a Ukrainian restaurant tasting local dishes with "kvas", typical soft drink in the region. Later, the largest building in the world in the shape of a bottle, the Strong Drinks Museum, is waiting for us. The owner of this private collection of alcoholic beverages has a story behind every bottle and shares it with a lot of passion. Here we will try a type of local strong drink.
Don't forget to take your passport with you! There is a checkpoint between Moldova and Transnistria, but your passport will not be stamped. Take some cash (USD or EUR) as in Transnistria you can't pay with card, only cash in Pridnestrovian rubles (local currency), available to exchange only in Transnistria
